Club Rules 2026

  1. These club rules, in effect from 1 January 2025 until further notice, govern the operations of the "Modellclub Böheimkirchen – Kirchstetten" (hereinafter "MC-Böheimkirchen").

  2. The model flying field — and during the winter season the sports hall of HS-Böheimkirchen — may only be used by members of MC-Böheimkirchen. Entry by unauthorised persons is prohibited. Only instructed persons cleared by the club board are allowed to fly solo. See point 6 for exceptions.

  3. Membership of MC-Böheimkirchen requires a club resolution. Admission is on a probationary basis (trial period: one flying season) and can be terminated by either side during the probationary period without reason. In that case the one-off joining fee is refunded.

  4. The one-off joining fee is € 250. For young people up to their 19th birthday as of 31 March: € 55. Payable to the club treasury.

  5. Every member must pay the annual membership fee of € 149 at the beginning of each calendar year (and no later than the end of February). For young people up to their 19th birthday as of 31 March: € 74. The fee is paid in advance, with no refund if a member leaves before the end of the current calendar year; it is required to maintain club operations.

  6. Participation by non-members and guests: On invitation by a club member, non-members and guests may take part in the flying operations up to five times per year. An adult MC-Böheimkirchen member must take responsibility by verifying that valid third-party liability insurance, drone registration and remote pilot competency are in place; the guest's name, address and frequency channel as well as the name of the responsible club member must be entered into the guest-pilot logbook kept in the clubhouse; the guest must acknowledge the airfield rules by signing the logbook. A fee of € 7 per day is to be collected and handed to the treasurer (drop into the white letterbox in the clubroom).

  7. Joining MC-Böheimkirchen includes membership of the Austrian Aero Club (ÖAeC). The Aero Club fee includes third-party liability insurance. Proof of insurance (sport licence or membership card) must be carried at all times. A model aircraft may only be operated if insurance cover with at least the minimum sum stipulated in § 151 of the Austrian Aviation Act (LFG 1957) can be demonstrated. Every pilot needs a valid registration as an operator of unmanned aircraft per Article 14 of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947, as well as the remote pilot competency per Regulation (EU) 2019/947.

  8. Every pilot is responsible for ensuring their radio control system complies with the regulations in force in Austria. Only model aircraft in perfect technical and safe condition may be operated. Powered models must be adequately silenced: piston engines 82 dB(A) at 25 m, turbines 90 dB(A) at 25 m. Model aircraft may not exceed 25 kg.

  9. Responsibility for the operation of a model aircraft lies with the pilot. Every activity is carried out at the participant's own risk; the club (board) accepts no liability of any kind.

  10. The permissible airspace is the air north of the safety net and the imagined extensions of its two wings. Flying is prohibited south of that line, except for gliders or electric-gliders at sufficient altitude to safely return to the field. An adequate distance must be kept from the houses in Ziegelfeld and Rapoltendorf for noise protection. Flights outside visual line of sight are not permitted per § 24 c of the Austrian Aviation Act. The generally allowed maximum altitude is 120 m above ground (per LVR 2014, § 18). A UAS operating authorisation under Article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2019/947 has been granted for MODELLCLUB Böheimkirchen Kirchstetten, permitting a maximum altitude of 300 m above ground. The conditions set out in that authorisation for operations above 120 m, published by the Austrian Aero Club's model flying section, must be strictly observed.

  11. In the airspace over the rest of the club grounds south of the safety net — the hut, the model staging area, the spectator area, the lawn and the car park — there is an absolute flight ban for RC models. Deliberately flying over this area results in an immediate flight ban for the pilot(s) concerned.

  12. If a manned aircraft approaches the model flying field, it must be avoided immediately and, if necessary, landed to give way. Manned aircraft have priority over model aircraft.

  13. The runway (the mown area) is for taking off and landing. For other manoeuvres in the airspace above the runway (low passes, torque rolls, etc.) points 21 and 22 of these rules apply. Manoeuvres flying directly towards the safety net which could endanger persons or property are prohibited.

  14. Only the pilots of the models on the runway or in the model staging area — and their helpers — may be present there. Taxiing models under radio control outside the take-off/landing strip is prohibited. Models are to be carried onto the runway or guided by hand.

  15. Operating hours for powered models are 08:00 to 20:00. Unpowered models: sunrise to sunset.

  16. Before take-off the pilot must ensure that no model is on final approach and that there are no obstacles in the take-off direction on the ground or in the airspace. After take-off the pilot must move to the edge of the runway. Take-offs and landings must be announced clearly, loudly and in good time.

  17. All pilots who are actively flying a model should stand approximately at the centre of the field to enable mutual communication and to allow the radio-frequency conditions for interference-free operation of several receivers.

  18. In instructor/trainee operations, the instructor is fundamentally responsible for compliance with these airfield rules and must be a member of MC-Böheimkirchen.

  19. Every insurance event must be reported to the chairman or their deputy without delay, and the incident form kept in the club hut must be filled in.

  20. In the event of an off-field landing only the pilot (and, if necessary, a person appointed by them) shall retrieve the model, taking care to minimise any damage to fields and crops.

  21. To avoid mutual interference between different types of models (helicopters, fixed-wing, control-line, etc.), pilots must coordinate before take-off.

  22. In exceptional cases a pilot may wish to fly alone; this must be agreed with the other pilots present before take-off.

  23. Buggy operation takes place on the dedicated track. Drivers stand on the driver platform to control their vehicles. Participants must look out for one another, especially when someone is on the track retrieving a vehicle. Only electric-powered vehicles are permitted.

  24. RC buggy operation is not covered by the Aero Club insurance. RC buggy drivers must arrange their own insurance cover for personal injury and property damage.

  25. Every club member is obliged to contribute work to maintain club operations.

  26. Every club member is obliged to comply with these club rules and must also ensure that other members and guests comply with them. In case of non-compliance with these airfield rules, the club board reserves the right to take appropriate steps against the person(s) concerned.

  27. Exceptions to and deviations from the above rules can be decided or approved by the board for specific occasions (e.g. events). They are announced by notice.

  28. Emergency plan:
